Swansea is a city steeped in stories
Swansea has a rich and intriguing history. The city boasts a vibrant nightlife and a bustling commercial centre, but there is also a darker side to Swansea that many people don’t know about. Swansea in Gloom walking tours give visitors the chance to explore Swansea’s seedy and spooky past in the company of our chief storyteller who will regale you with stories of murder, hangings, suicides, and more, while giving you a potted history of Swansea on the way. You won’t see Swansea the same way after you’ve experienced the many tales ranging from the Vikings of the 800s right up to the air raids of the Second World War.
Our groups are limited to a maximum of 15 guests so you can be assured of an intimate, close-knit experience.
The tours take approximately two and half hours and cover just under a mile and a half. It’s not strenuous at all and there are no steps or steep hills to climb.
A small donation from each tour will be made to Matt’s Café, a site of important historical interest, now doing amazing work to help people in need.
Swansea In Gloom is run as part of a non-profit organisation, aiming to improve the places we live with small local initiatives including Swansea Library of Things and HQ Urban Kitchen Cafe/Bar.
Tours run from HQ Urban Kitchen in The Old Police Station (Llys Glas, SA1 5AJ) one of the oldest standing buildings in Swansea.
